I have seen this that there are
many articles about the way of getting your blog indexed on Google but there
are certain misconceptions about these things which I have encountered while
getting my own blog indexed by Google. The procedure is like this as follows and one misconception which i faced is written in the end of this text.
1. First step go to your blog setting then go to search preferences
2. In search preferences go to customs robots.txt
3. Edit it and select yes as option space will occur for writing, paste this written in bold in it with your blog's name in the sitemap.
User-agent: Google
Disallow:
User-agent: *
Disallow:
Allow: /
In Blogspot it is done up till here
Note Extra stuff for interested readers:
This is to allow search engines
to access your blog User-agent:* this
is to allow all search engines to access your blog by putting * there and instead writing any particular name
there like in the first line will allow only that search engine to visit your
blog Disallow: / if this “/” is put in it like this would disallow all search engines to
visit your home page and so your blog is invisible to them, so thus if you want to block search engines to visit some
part of your blog you can add that extension to it like Disallow: /b/ so now
anything in your blog starting with this name "/b/" would be invisible to search
engines.
4. Go
to Google webmaster tools, if you are unaware of it search it
on Google itself. Login in with your blogger’s email id and password.
5. There
you will see your blog’s name click on it.
6. Go to optimization in the left hand side
and then select sitemap under it.
Note: Extra stuff for interested
readers.
As you can see there are two bars
one red and another blue. Blue bar is for the number of submitted pages which
you would see initially on your window and the red bar which will gradually
appear after some time is for the pages indexed by the Google.
7. On
the top right side there is a button in red ADD/TEST SITEMAP press it.
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
Imp Note: this sitemap if for indexing maximum 500 pages.
9. And then press submit sitemap.
Important things which I observed:
There is no
specific number of pages initially which are required for you to get your blog indexed, as
can be seen from the image that I have only indexed by home page, as this is the
initial stage for my blogging and the next thing is that don’t make great
changes to your blog appearance once submitted this may delay your blog getting
indexed, it's my personal experience as my friend’s blog get indexed one day
before mine though I have submitted sitemap a day before him and if still your
blog does not get indexed after one whole day then you should resubmit your
sitemap do sign out (if you haven’t done
that when submitting sitemap) and then sign in again just precautionary.
